To that end, if you’re applying for the Human Operated Certification, you simply need to answer a series of questions honestly in order to qualify. The image of the certification is only half of the magic. The other half is that your legitimate certification(s) will link back to our databases and to your entry in our public directory of Human Operated businesses. If a customer can’t click your badge and be brought to the directory, then they’ll know that your status as Human Operated isn’t officially verified. We want the badge to be a sign of trust, so let’s start on the right foot!
Human Operated charges you annually, $500, starting on or after August 3rd, 2026, provided you pass any incoming audits.
In the future, Human Operated will not operate on the Honor System questionnaire, but on real audits of your communications, online content, and social media. These audits will be non-intrusive and bi-annual.
If you fail your audit, no worries! We’ll give you a report of where things went wrong and the steps you can take in order to try again. You are not charged per audit, nor are you charged at all until you can display the certification, so you’re encouraged to apply, fail, adjust, and try again. If you fail an audit after you’re already certified, we’ll contact you and you’ll have 30 days to reply with solutions and a re-audit before your certification is temporarily revoked.
